I finally have my first furniture makeover / furniture flip! this is a piece ive had since i was a kid in my bedrooms growing up and honestly, ive painted it every colour going so sanding this bad boy was a mission!!
I really wanted a more muted colour / worn effect and i thought this would be the perfect way to achieve that without doing anything too permanent to the wood!
I know you can bleech wood, use weathering acelerator, use lime etc. but i wanted the same effect with also being able to keep the original wood at all times (i know, talk about have your cake and eat it too haha)
The piece i was inspired by was this one from Loaf and i think the colouring came pretty close: https://loaf.com/products/driftwood-chest-of-drawers
The EXACT paints I used were:
CHALK PAINT (I mixed 50/50 with water to thin): https://amzn.to/2VcMVJk*
SPRAY PAINT: https://amzn.to/2VMvI8K*
CLEAR MATT LACQUER: https://amzn.to/2GYA3gU*
I know you can purchase Rustoleum in the likes of b&q, homebase and other diy stores but try and find a local supplier and youll be amazed at some of the prices you can find! i often buy from amazon so keep an eye out on special offers on there as i’ve had many of good offers to top my paint/spray paint cupboard up with! any links marked with * are affiliated. i am not paid to link them but if anyone buys after clicking i get rewarded with a few pence!
Thanks so so much for watching
SEE YOU SOON xoxo
Many people fear that taking on home improvement projects themselves will be too difficult, but the truth is, you just need to find the best way to accomplish them. As with any project, it is easier when you have the right information and advice. In the following paragraphs, you’ll learn some advice that will guide you when taking on a home improvement project.
Your AC unit’s filter should be kept clean. Whenever the filter is dirty, your air conditioner will be forced to work harder in order to keep a cool home. As a result, more energy will be used, which means more money will be coming out of your pocket. It may also stay on for a longer period of time. To prevent dirt and grime from building up on your filters, change them out every month.
Increase the energy efficiency of your home by installing weather stripping all around your home’s doors and windows. With the materials available at most hardware stores, this is a very easy and inexpensive change you can make to your home that will have a lasting impact on both your cooling and heating bills. You will also realize that you can drastically cut out the drafts on those extremely chilly nights.
A great way to lower the cost of your electric bill is to use a motion sensor light instead of a regular porch light. It is still possible to turn the light on manually, and the sensitivity is adjustable.
Receiving the best advice can go a long way in making a difference to the success of your home improvement ideas. If you’re aware of the right way to complete a home improvement project, the entire process will be much easier.
